n: When the pressure suffered by inferior drill column reach to critical value, it deviates the vertical axis and forms a tangency point with borehole face.

n: The rate at which drift angle is increasing as the wellbore is being deviated from vertical. Usually measured in degrees per 100 ft drilled.

When the string is dropped quickly, the jar body produces a sharp downward blow on the tubing or pipe made up below the jar. If downward blows can free a fish, a bumper jar can be very effective.
